Danza no Claustro is a project of the cultural platform SÓLODOS. It was born in the Cloister of San Francisco in the city of Ourense in June 2013, as a scenic proposal that values ​​the architectural heritage through dance and since then it has been performed annually.

​

 

Landscapes full of history and uniqueness of the province of Ourense are the context for international and local artists, together with the communities, to build a common cultural project. Danza No Claustro is an exclusive cultural program for the communities, strengthening the cultural events in the area. Dance as a cultural engine that enhances the history of the place, its people, its beauty, its uniqueness... A different way of looking at architecture and historical heritage through dance and movement.

Since 2021, the fashion firm Adolfo Domínguez collaborates with the project, and will also be in charge of dressing the artists in this edition.

​

 

With more than 10 years of celebration, in this 2023 edition Danza No Claustro will be held in the Cloisters of Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil in Nogueira de Ramuín, Santa María in Melón and Santa María in Xunqueira de Espadanedo.

The latent adjective describes that which is hidden or, apparently, inactive. The latent content of dreams is what is connected with the unconscious, the real, the essence. Latent heat is the amount of energy required by a substance to change phase. The latent conflict is made up of forces pulling in opposite directions.

LATENT is the exploration of contrasts and extremes, control and lack of control, a journey through subtlety in the explosive to become an adjective, content and conflict, thus causing the phase change.

It is a street piece that begins in one of those moments in which you think “what if…”

It is interesting to see trees as if they were people and people as if they were trees. How they watched the world go by and adapted through time at a slow but steady pace. How trees seem to create a world of their own within themselves just like people.

Through dance, we look at the trees and nature, comparing ourselves to them as individuals, reflecting on the commonalities that we have as living beings.
