SóLODOS EN DANZA

DANZA NO CAMIÑO is a choreographic project that proposes a vision of our Heritage through art, dance and music, its performers and composers, having as its main source of inspiration the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Galicia.

The project presented here as DANZA NO CAMIÑO is the extension in Galicia of a program carried out in Castilla y León since 2019 called Danza en el Camino. In a very short time this program knew how to become a valuable reference in the Spanish panorama in terms of street dance events.

Now a new project is exposed that is to enter the Community of Galicia, through a Gala in three locations: Santiago de Compostela, Sarria and Portomarín. For 2022 "Danza no Camiño" in Galicia and "Danza en el Camino" in Castilla y León come together to enjoy a total of 12 locations on the Camiño de Santiago from the communities of Castilla y León and Galicia, something unusual, unique, unprecedented in terms of artistic manifestations of dance in the street and in terms of the number of autonomies, deputations and town halls.

The enormous potential that the Xacobea Route contains is the driving force behind this success which, together with Dance, establishes an exemplary link, an artistic amalgam that serves as a catalyst so that other Autonomous Communities attached to the Camino de Santiago also want to enjoy this great show.

'Danza no Camino' is directed by the choreographer Alberto Estébanez and organized by the Junta de Castilla y León with the sponsorship of the Xunta de Galicia and Xacobeo 21_22 through AGADIC (Axencia Galega das Industrias Culturais) and the Galician Tourism Agency through its call for projects O Teu Xacobeo, and with the support of the provincial councils of Burgos and León and the municipalities of Belorado, San Juan de Ortega, Burgos, Villalcázar de Sirga, Carrión de los Condes, Astorga, Ponferrada, Sarria, Portomarín, Santiago de Compostela and León, in addition to SóLODOS as host in Galicia and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao within the framework of its TopARTE program.

Three absolute premieres
The first of the works on tour bears the stamp of the Italian-Spanish company based in Freiburg (Germany) Frantics Dance Company. Performed by Marco di Nardo, Diego de la Rosa, Carlos Aller and Juan Tirado, 'Dystopian' invites the public to "live the present moment". Since they signed their first work, entitled 'Praesens', in 2014, Frantisc has garnered important awards on the international festival circuit. Another of the selected works is 'Symposium', by the Italian company Bellanda. Performed by its choreographer, Giovanni Leonarduzzi, together with the dancer Claudia Latini, the show offers a look at today's society and the dynamics of social relationships that are generated in it: "the difficulty of finding, maintaining and cultivating a relationship in a society that pushes towards a stronger individualism and that leads to less acceptance of the commitment of the couple».

The third and last of the works is 'Stay landscape'. Esther Latorre and Hugo Pereira, members of Colectivo Glovo, and Fran Martínez and Paula Quintas defend this choreographic composition created specifically for this tour and these spaces on stage. The montage revolves around the ability to "put the body to rediscover one's own body, reinvent it and reinterpret it."
