WHAT IS THE SÓLODOS DANCE FESTIVAL?
SÓLODOS EN DANZA is an International Festival of Contemporary Dance that takes place from February 24 to March 30, 2019 in Costa Rica. The Festival has a specialized program in scenic works of new creators of contemporary dance, it is also a cultural platform of cultural exchange and cooperation that works with different cultural artistic projects in Europe and America. SÓLODOS EN DANZA generates mobility and collaboration between public institutions, private companies, artists, dance festivals, environmental and social projects related to culture.
In this seventh edition the Festival includes different activities such as Marathon of Dance Classes, Tour Costa Rica, Laboratories, Workshops, Forums, Performances and Artistic Residences. In the Contest of Duets and Solos, which will be held on March 16 in the Parque de Barva de Heredia, artists from Spain, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and Costa Rica will participate.
This year the COSTA RICA 2019 TOUR will be developed by different provinces of the country, from February 26 until the end of March: Cartago, Quepos, Garabito, San Carlos, Heredia and San Jose will receive this year the Costa Rica 2019 Tour of the Solodos En Danza Festival, with artists from Spain, Mexico, France and Costa Rica.
The SÓLODOS EN DANZA Festival in Costa Rica, is co-produced by the Cultural Center of Spain in Costa Rica.
WHAT IS THE SÓLODOS EN DANZA COSTA RICA 2019 TOUR
It is a Social project, which has to do with opening scenic spaces outside the metropolitan area, spaces that are diverse and socially vulnerable. We bring high quality art to children, young people and socially disadvantaged populations, using the collaboration of neighborhood associations, municipal, independent artists, public and private institutions that can provide logistical support and enable the project in the long term. The different collaborations make it possible to boost the culture, a tool for social awareness, improving the quality of life of people. SóLODOS with this mobility strategy builds diffusion networks, a scenic circuit, supported by the artists themselves and the people of the different communities. This year the SÓLODOS EN DANZA COSTA RICA 2019 TOUR will be developed in different provinces of the country, from February 26 to March 30, 2019. The project starts in Cartago to continue through Quepos, Garabito, Santa Clara, San Carlos, Heredia, San José and Tilarán.
