ATONAL / CARLA SEGOVIA & GUILLERMO AGUILAR / México
Choreographers and performers: Carla Segovia and Guillermo Aguilar
Original music: Aristóteles Benítez (Voices and sounds of Carla Segovia and Guillermo Aguilar).
ATONAL is a project with which we propose to generate a choreographic relationship between the voice, the use of Autotune and Ableton and the body in movement.
Our main intention is to explore the possibilities of these software and musical sequencers as vocal distorters; investigate and generate artificial effects that allow us to make live compositions that involve our altered voices as conditioning factors for the movement of our bodies.
DORMU / INDALECIO SÉURA / Andalucía
Choreographer and performer: Indalecio Séura
"Fly fly
beyond,
in a rowing boat.
row, row
and when you are
greet from heaven.
Don't cry sweet love
become a brave angel.
I only hope that when I go,
I can recognize you."
THE BEAUTY OF IT / ÁNGEL DURÁN / Cataluña / A través de la Red Acieloabierto
Choreographer and performer: Ángel Durán
Sound space design: Àngel Durán and Pep Vilaregut
Dramaturgical advice: Blanca Apilánez
Photography: José Ma Pecci
The Beauty of It is based on Carl Jung's theories on the duality between the conscious and unconscious mind. This dichotomy in a single person does not allow us to differentiate between the real reality and what is the dream. In this scenic proposal, the fragility of man is exposed, as well as a reflection on the authenticity of the actions or characters created by himself. What is the real mask? Is everything we experience real? What is the difference between acting and behaving as you are?
The Beauty of It uses the recordings of the interview with Dr. Carl Jung in 1957 as an external narrator to immerse us in a reflective state where the interpreter is the object of study, but is also a mirror of ourselves. Swept away by the different qualities of movement and expressions, we submerge ourselves in the human unconscious.
ALLEO / COLECTIVO GLOVO / Galicia
Choreographers and performers: Esther Latorre and Hugo Pereira
Everything begins up there, where we glimpse what is happening and what is foreign to the countryside and sea is recorded. From my position the truth is appreciated; the tower is warm, it is orange. Sunbeams melt into cracks and break under downright earthy stones. That burning solitude burns and destroys the privilege of the glimpse, leaving us abandoned before the eternal immensity.
Alleo is based on the idea of the watchtower.
Part of the conditioning of the "privileged" position of the tower and who played the role in surveillance.
We inhabit both bodies: the power that granted the knowledge of the unknown and what was to come as well as the loneliness of that position and the weight of the discovery of the alien.
VERTEBRATA / ALEJANDRA BALBOA / Galicia
Choreographer and performer: Alejandra Balboa
Investigating with the choreographer Luis Marrafa, Vertebrata is born. An emotional journey in which the body is moved by the noise that inhabits it. He finds it difficult to control his internal impulses, trying to decipher them and even dominate them. A swing between the slight suffocation of the attempt and the heavy burden of weakness. It is the expression of an animal that externalizes through movement, the different states of its matter.
I don't let anything enter me without rumbling, without controlling the intensity with which they inhabit, collide and even explode. Sometimes it seems that they rest, but soon they cover all the space they can to be noticed.
I just try to turn them off. I think, naive, that when they pinch me again, I will understand them clearly.
But not. I can't get them to sleep.
I am afraid that my peace will be reduced to the small moments in which the air manages to enter and leave my body without difficulty.
SPECIAL PROGRAM AUGUST 7 - O SAGRADO - XUNQUEIRA DE ESPADANEDO
CELEBRATION 10º ANNIVERSARY OF DANZA NO CLAUSTRO
ÁLVARO MURILLO / 8 KM EN MULA / Extremadura
Choreographer and performer: Álvaro Murillo
A chronicle of events, a real event that occurred on the night of July 22, 1928 at the Cortijo del Fraile in Níjar, Almería, served as an inspiration to Federico García Lorca for the creation of his work "Bodas de Sangre". A forbidden love in a society that keeps up appearances. An instinctive force that tends to irrational union opposing, without looking for it, social conventionalism. On her wedding day, a bride runs away with her lover. The boyfriend follows them and the denouement takes place, the rivals stab each other, causing death in both
The body uses the language of contemporary dance and flamenco to tell a story of cursed love. The movement as a communication tool, carries with it statements regarding death and love. A danced chronicle of the work, a flamenco version of the story.
BLUES DE MEDIANOITE / LABORATORIO ESCÉNICO / Galicia
Choreographer and performer: Alba Fernández Cotelo
Lighting: Afonso Castro
"When night falls and the melody comes in, the lights come on for me"
Blues de Medianoite enters, to the rhythm of blues, in the mystery and sensuality of the night, bringing us closer to black roots in movement, in music and in instincts. The call of the land that values the great women of blues and the rhythmic richness that comes directly from Africa, always from a personal filter. This is MY blues.
