2023  Sólodos En Danza Costa Rica

Dance Contemporary International Festival
November 2023 from 6 to 29

PROGRAM

A RAÍZ DE... / Daniel Rodriguez / Galicia / Spain

Xove Award and Sólodos En Danza España 2022 award.

The body, that instrument capable of making yesterday's stories live today and allowing tradition and contemporaneity to dialogue in a single being, where past and present live, to build a discourse of the future.

LATENTE / Ana Melero / Andalucía / Spain

Awarded in Choreography Internacional Festival of  Burgos - New York to participate in Sólodos En Danza in Costa Rica 2023.

The adjective latent describes that which is hidden or, apparently, inactive. The latent content of dreams is that which connects with the unconscious, the real, the essence. Latent heat is the amount of energy required by a substance to change phase. Latent conflict is composed of forces that push in opposite directions.

LATENTE is the exploration of contrasts and extremes, control and lack of control, a journey about subtlety in the explosive to become an adjective, content and conflict, thus causing the change of phase.

ONDE POUSA A HUMIDADE / Marcia Vázquez / Galicia / Spain

INJUVE awarded in Madrid to participate in Solodos En Danza Costa Rica.

This show delves into the relationship with waiting. It is inspired by A Costa da Morte, Galicia, the coast with the most shipwrecks in Europe. An ode to women, those who always wait for the ocean to return them, at least, the remains of bones of their relatives. Meanwhile, the salt cracks the hands that weave, net by net, which keeps them on the ground.

8 KM EN MULA / Alvaro Murillo / Extremadura / Spain

A chronicle of events, a real event that occurred on the night of July 22, 1928 at the Cortijo del Fraile in Níjar, Almería, served as inspiration for Federico García Lorca for the creation of his work “Blood Wedding”. A forbidden love in a society that keeps appearances. An instinctive force that tends towards irrational union, opposing, without seeking it, social convention. On her wedding day a bride escapes with her lover. The boyfriend follows them and the outcome takes place, the rivals stab each other, causing both of them to die. The body uses the language of dance and contemporary flamenco to tell a story of cursed love. The movement as a communication tool carries with it statements regarding death and love. A danced chronicle of the work, a flamenco version of the story.

In this workshop, tools will be proposed that allow us to know and recognize what the physical and/or emotional support/push of our movement is, both in its most technical part and in improvisation. Becoming aware of our own physical structure and our inner space will allow us to make the decision to support/push our movement from one place or another and even from their symbiosis.
